Thursday, August 1, 2019

8:45 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.           Session I. The Workscape of the Future
Employment landscapes will be a challenge to all stakeholders. Employees will have to adjust to the new roles of machines and artificial intelligence. Leaders in public policy will need to address the dislocations in society, and firms will need to attend to the changes these developments will make in the firm itself. Particularly, how does the firm think of its employees beyond simply a cost that should be reduced? This first session will sort out the challenges that technological developments and changing business processes pose in the employment landscape of the future.

10:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m           Session II. Employee Cost, Value and Meaning
This session will explore how employees, leaders and policy-makers should think about the human-machine relationship in a way that can best promote value to the firm, while retaining the firm’s values. As the role of smart machines increases, how does the firm maximize value from its various resources beyond simply reducing costs of its employees? How can technological advances enhance the value of human talent in the organization?

2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.             Session III. Case Studies: The New Role of Machines in Work Structures
Participants will explore case studies of how firms have prepared for and/or reacted to the changes in the workplace caused by the changing world of human-machine interactions. These case studies will also address the role of cost, value and meaning to the future success of the organization and its stakeholders.
